A beautiful day for rugby. The under 8 Shoreham rugby boys gave a great performance getting better and better as the tournament went on.
The first game vs Hayward's Heath saw the boys start slow and give up possession with a couple of knock ons and steps into touch. This allowed Hayward's Heath to take an early advantage. The boys battled back losing the game by one try 7-6. Try scorers, Alfie, Jack, Milo, Miller and William x 2.
The boys played well against a strong Uckfield team but always trailed by one try which was the margin at the end, 7-6. Try scorers Miller x3, Ollie, Milo and William.
In the third game the boys started well going up 3-1 with some excellent defensive work forcing the opposition to make mistakes. Tries from Ollie, Alfie and Miller x2 were not enough to beat Eastbourne who won 5-4.
The team performance grew stronger through all the games and the boys best game was against the hosts Hastings where they battled for the draw at 5-5. Try scorers William x3, Miller and Alfie. The development of their straight running and support though all the games sets up the prospect of a very positive season ahead.
Well done to all the boys for their excellent commitment and effort at the Hastings festival.
