Cowborough have long been one of the top sides at our age group and so today was always going to be a stern test.
After some Crowborough led warmup and training exercises the two squads were split into what both coaches hoped would be two equally balanced sides. Shoreham's balance wasn't quite as equal as Crowborough's and so one of the sides found it difficult to break through their opponents ranks or defend their own lines but, with that in mind, they stiil presented a stiff challenge in both their matches. They will have learnt a lot from these difficult games and the high tackle count from the likes of Thomas Kentell, Luke Hartshorn, Ben Harrison and Harry Cracknell stands as a testament to their steely resolve.
The second side faired better with a draw and a well earned victory. Thomas Mollee's try tally for the season grows a pace whilst his team mates showed a greater degree of organisation, particularly evident with their speed at the breakdown.
So well done us. To travel a distance and to field as many players as the home team shows great commitment from our teams mums and dads and to play such competitive rugby against one of the counties foremost sides makes it all worth the effort.
