Stingers at the Pulborough Festival

The Pulborough Festival saw the Stingers play in some brutal conditions with the icy cold and what felt like an arctic wind made worse by being situated on the edge of an airfield with little protection from the elements.

Up against it on the pitch with long grass and an uphill slope, the Stingers stuck it out showing grit and determination and having fielded a pure 'Shoreham' side and with many stepping up to be part of a 'Barbarians' team ensured that no one stood around idle. One of the toughest things is making up a team not knowing the other players! However, kudos to those who did; you did us all proud ?.

The 'Shoreham' squad, which all players were part of at some point played three very tough matches against Worthing, Midhurst and Horsham winning against Worthing 5-1, Horsham 5-2 and were unlucky to lose against Midhurst 4 - 1. There were some cracking tries scored with Rupert bagging 4, Jacob 3, Ollie 2 and Alfie and Max C 1 apiece! It was great to see Max C score and get a special coach's cuddle!

At times it felt like decisions did not go Shoreham’s way, but the players took the ref's decisions calmly and respectfully without arguing or fussing. At no point did their heads go down! Special mentions need to go to some excellent rucking, Archie T for making that scrum half role his own, Rupert for what was an astounding flying tackle in which he completely floored the opposition and to everyone (children and adults) who got out there in the elements and just got the job done! A great end to a stunning season and lovely to have an end of 2022 celebration altogether - we missed those of who couldn't make it ..Bring on 2023! ??☺?
