The Mighty 2s vs St Francis

On a dry and cold Friday evening under the floodlights at Southgate Playing Fields and with the occasional background firework going off in the distance, the Mighty 2's turned up to face a large St Francis squad, and quickly found themselves on the back foot with St Francis scoring early on and it wasn’t long before The Mighty 2's went 14-0 down with St Francis having scored and converted twice.

The Mighty 2's played some quality phases which saw Pat McCarthy crash over the line to register Shoreham’s first 5 points, but alas they were unable to convert it for an extra 2 points.

St Francis managed to get the ball across the line twice more in the first half with one of the tries being converted to bring the score to 26-5 to St Francis at half-time

The second half saw the Mighty 2's rise up from the ashes and take on a team of fresh St Francis players and much like the 300 Spartans against the Persians everything seemed to click and this saw McCarthy score another try which was subsequently converted by Toby Reed.

The Mighty 2’s comeback was not short lived and this was followed by another two tries and conversions all by Reed to take the score to 26-26, which is where the score finished at the full-time whistle.
