Another emphatic performance from Shoreham saw them lift the Sussex RFU Plate with a 69-5 victory over Crawley 2’s. Shoreham got off to the best of starts with a darting run from MOM Danny James forcing a penalty culminating with a dominate Shoreham pack driving over from the subsequent lineout. Some great interplay between forwards and backs saw Shoreham up by 14 after 7 minutes. A penalty and another great run from James stretched Shoreham’s lead to 24. A dropped ball by Shoreham and some lazy defence allowed Crawley to strike back with an unconverted try.
A brace of tries from Shoreham winger Lance Tufft put the result beyond doubt before half time.
Both sides made changes after the half and some clumsy challenges from Shoreham saw them lose two players to the sin bin. Despite this, there defence held firm, keeping Crawley scoreless in the second half. Further tries from Adam Shaw and James topped off a great performance from Shoreham.
